100% Australian Grown Plain Black Tea from the Daintree Rainforest in Tropical Far North Queensland. Naturally low in caffeine and tannins. The tips of the Camelia sinensis tea plants are mechanically harvested and produce a fresh, tasty cuppa.

This tea is a gem. It’s a classic breakfast-style black with a malty backbone and a smooth, almost sweet finish. While it’s not a high-grade cut like SFTGFOP (Special Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe), the finely ground leaves retain integrity. There are some stems mixed in, but nothing that detracts from the experience. In fact, the smaller leaf size shortens brew time and likely contributes to the rich flavour profile.
Despite its modest grade, this tea delivers a genuinely delicious cup—smooth, malty, and never bitter. I keep around 30 varieties of loose leaf teas, many of them top-tier, and this Daintree blend holds its own. It’s a great example of how flavour doesn’t always correlate with grade; sometimes a well-handled, locally grown tea just hits the mark.

Several months ago we travelled in FNQ and went to the Humpy, Tolga and purchased some lovely sweat tea from the Himpy at Tolga. I had assumed it was from Daintree Tea. Unfortunately we have purchased several 500g packe of Daintree Tea to find out that it is not the same as that which we purchased from the Humpy. The teal leaf seems to be the same size but seems to contain a different leaf and I describe it as "gun powder tea" - Most unusual and not at all like the tea from The Humpy. Most disappointing.

We have been buying Daintree Tea for over 10 years now, since we just dropped into the farm there back in 2015. The tea is always fresh and delicious, and we like supporting Australian growers where possible.
The Daintree Loose Leaf Tea makes the perfect cup of tea, everytime. Fortunately the orders are dispatched promptly and arrive within days of ordering to ensure that even when I've left it to the last few spoonfuls, I'm never without my favourite hot beverage for long.
